The materials Chet uses include – salvaged wood from the beach, scrap wood from portable mills (that would otherwise be burnt), dead and down from our forests, and logs salvaged from lakes.
Hollow wooden surfboards can last a lifetime – something you could hand down to your grandkids! These boards are comparable to cedar strip kayaks and canoes, you can see these boats lasting 80 years plus that are still being used!

Hi. I have just watched Chet’s video sent to me by a gal who has one of his wooden kayaks. The kayak is currently for sale and I’m just wondering, did Chet cover his wooden kayaks with a coating of fiberglass? It is a beautiful kayak with dolphins on it made probably 10 to 15 years ago. Thank you kindly.
